MEET THE SEPL PEOPLE


Dr. Alicia Macchione
Dr. Alicia Macchione leads the Social and Evolutionary Psychology Lab (SEPL) at WTAMU. She is an assistant professor specializing in Social Psychology. Her research spans three key areas: (1) exploring the causes and effects of social inclusion and exclusion, (2) investigating face perception and nonverbal communication, and (3) examining the role of personality and motivation in shaping cognition and perception.

Tanvi Mhapankar
Tanvi Mhapankar is a Masters student at WTAMU. She has always had a fascination with how the mind works which led her to Psychology. Her research interests include impacts of technology and media on cognition in the adult population.

Kiley Clendennen
Kiley Clendennen is a WTAMU Graduate student and a Texas native. Her interest in Psychology stems from a desire to help people who suffer from mental illnesses. She hopes to achieve her Masters and go on to pursue a career as a clinical psychologist and serve as an inspiration to her younger siblings and cousins.

Hadassah Corey
Hadassah Corey is a senior undergraduate student at WTAMU. She found her passion for Psychology through her interest in understanding others and helping them understand themselves. She hopes to attend Graduate school and pursue a career in clinical psychology.

Keenan Davis
Keenan Davis is a senior in the Psych Department at WTAMU who's interests include experimental design and research with a focus on perceptions of mental health. He hopes that, through empirical observation and testing, individual suffering can be reduced to create a kinder world for all of us.

Olha Humeniuk
Olha Humeniuk is a Graduate psychology student at WTAMU. Her research interest is focused on gender norms, inequality and expectations from women in modern times.

Tex Houseal
Tex Houseal is a senior undergraduate studying psychology at WTAMU. They strive to become a school psychologist to provide students with the accommodations they need to succeed. Their research interests are mentor-mentee relationships, accommodations in the classroom, and how misophonia affects learning.

Sarah Gil
Sarah Gil is a senior psychology student at WTAMU from El Paso, Texas. Her research interests include how dance affects self-esteem and body image issues during childhood and adolescence. She aspires to work as a clinical psychologist specializing in helping children to help treat cognitive, emotional, and neurodevelopmental disorders.

Riven Robinson
Riven Robinson is a Junior Pschology major at WTAMU. They were inspired to pursue psychology by their sister, who has low functioning austism disorder. They hope to achieve a PhD in experimental or quantitative pschology to create and unbiased and informative world for her.

Brooklyn Harper
Brooklyn Harper is a senior Pschology student at WTAMU. Her interest in the field stems from a curiosity to understand people's behaviors both towards themselves and others.

Logan Canada
Logan Canada is a Senior Psychology major at WTAMU interested in biased attitudes towards those in the LGBTQ+ community and how to effectively reduce biases.

Rhiannon Sellinger
Rhiannon Sellinger is a Senior Psychology major at WTAMU interested in research on individuals with military backgrounds, such as the perception of those who have served.

Kimberly Beltrán
Kimberly Beltrán is a Junior Psychology major at WTAMU. She is a hopeless romantic who loves to indulge in art and hopes to bring that love into her future career as a child psychologist.

SEPL ALUMNI
Clyde Raible was both an undergraduate and graduate student at WT and one of the first research assistants to join the SEPL team. Clyde's research focuses on prosocial and altruistic behaviors, specifically how we can promote these in our society. Clyde is currently earning his PhD at the University of Southern Mississippi.
